Newport, RI will always have a special place in my heart. It was my first Oktoberfest with my college friends, and it was also my first day trip with my boyfriend when we first started dating. Add in the fact that I love the ocean, mansions, and nautical themed decor – it’s just one of the most dazzling places [in my opinion].
I’m thankful enough to have spent a night at the Newport Hyatt Regency for New Years Eve. It wasn’t anything special, but it was definitely a more enjoyable NYE than some that I’ve had in the past.
I always thought that going to big or big-ish parties and getting hammered was the way to go, but this year, a very low-key night was just right for me. We had tickets to the New Years Eve Gala the hotel was hosting. We got dressed up and explored the hotel for a little bit. I’m sure the gala was a great time for everyone – but it wasn’t the right crowd for us, so we spent the night enjoying each others company in our junior suite. We grabbed a couple of drinks from the bar, ordered room service, and were able to spend the night with no worries, drama, or negative thoughts in our heads – leaving a less than enjoyable 2016 behind us to start fresh in 2017. So here’s to a year of love, laughter, photography, adventures, and blogging.
