I’ve lived in New Hampshire for 25 years. I’m thankful to live in a state that experiences all four seasons – spring, summer, fall, and winter. But, winter is my least favorite season. I’m still shocked at how cold it can get during the winter. I’m also shocked at how beautiful it can be as well. New Hampshire is one of those places where it can be sunny one minute, and snowy the next. It’s also one of those places where one town might be sunny and slightly warm, but if you drive an hour north, it’s snowing and freezing.
In an attempt to get ready for hiking in Iceland in February, my boyfriend and I decided to do a “winter” hike to get used to the temperatures. What we didn’t know was that there would be 6 inches of snow on the ground when we got to the mountains. Needless to say, it was an awesome and beautiful hike once we got used to the temperature and snow.
These pictures were taken along our hike to Lonesome Lake early December.
The hike to Lonesome Lake was so beautiful and the AMC hut on the lake was an awesome pit stop to warm up and take a break for lunch before heading back down. I can’t wait to do this one in the spring!
